How to make Saffron Basmati Rice



Saffron is one of the most expensive spice in the world and when it’s coupled with the best variety of basmati rice, the dish which emerges is one of the best dishes for consumption.
Saffron has a distinct flavor and along with it the basmati rice also has a distinct aroma, which adds more value to the dish.
The only thing to ensure before making this dish is that the rice should be properly cleaned.
The distinct nice orange color to the dish is added by the saffron used in preparing this dish that’s why it’s called Saffron Basmati rice because the main ingredient used in making this dish is saffron and Basmati rice along with traditional spices.
Ingredient used
1.5 cups of basmati rice
2 to 3 pinch of saffron
¾ tsp shah jeera
2 green cardamoms
1 tej patta
1 piece of cinnamon
2 cloves
3 cups of water
1 pinch turmeric
1.5 tblspn ghee or oil
Few coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt as per taste.
Method:
The most important thing is to rinse the rice in water or till the water runs clear of starch.
Soak the rice for 20 to 30 minutes
Drain the water and keep the rice aside.
Take a pot and heat the oil or ghee in it and add all the spices to it.
Let the whole thing fry till it gives crackling sound
Now add the soaked rice to the above pot.
Stir it for 2 minutes.
Add the crushed saffron to it.
Add the turmeric power now and again stir it so it gets well mixed.
Now add water and salt
Cover the pot and now let the rice cook for some time till all the grains are separated from each other. You can check that by inserting a fork time and again to check the fluffiness of the rice.
Once through, remove the rice and its ready to be served by garnishing on the top with coriander leaves.
